Travel day! Okay. Daydream drove us to the airport this morning. I had slept in because I hadn’t been sleeping well. Well. You know I’ve flown from Cairns dozens of times but have never seen the reef from the air. It was quite.. lookable. I took some pictures. It reminded me of outerrr space and coral bleaching.
We flew to Brisbane airport, then hired a car to drive to the Gold Coast, where nanna Trish and Poppa Wayne, nanna Cutts, and auntie Elaine (nanna Trish’s sister) and uncle Pat live. We went to nanna Cutt’s house where we’d stay that night, and nanna Trish came, and auntie Sue happened to be up visiting! At the same time, hurrah. After gossiping a while we went to Elaine and Pat’s palace for dinner. They’re millionaires or something and built this frightful mansion that Elaine insisted on dragging us around to show off her wonderful imported furniture & crap. It had about 80 marble bathrooms.
Poppa Wayne came as well, and he usually avoids nanna Trish’s (his wife’s) family because they don’t like him (compared to her marvellous first husband whom they loved because he came from a family with a Name). I hadn’t seen him for 7 years and always liked him dearly. He recently found out though that he has calcium growths crushing his spinal cord and he will be paraplegic within months, unless they operate, which they might be able to do. Gosh. How very awful. He’s always had a bad back.
Well my allergies got bad for the first time in ages, so I sat quietly on a couch and waited till I could go to sleep. Australia lost the .. big football game everyone was talking about. *shrug*
oh, and Elaine gave me a foam foot full of silver toerings. It was thundering. The Gold Coast is nothing but towers of peach-coloured units with white carpeting and marble bathrooms.
